Eye Candy #113 - "The Hangover"
The Hangover: Hol-ee crap on a stick. This movie is funny. I mean it. My face hurt from laughing after watching this movie. It’s the story of four friends in Las Vegas and their lost bachelor party weekend, involving a tiger, Mike Tyson, a quickie wedding, a missing tooth, a chicken, a hospital visit, a hooker with a heart of gold, a naked Asian guy with a tire iron, a vintage Mercedes, a stolen cop car, an infant, a missing groom, roofies, general insanity, with no one having a memory of what happened the night before. With nary an a-list actor to draw you in, this film thrives on its well-paced direction, very funny script and the total commitment of the b- and c-list actors involved, including Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and the wildly underappreciated Zach Galifianakis. Not for children by any stretch of the imagination, as many of the jokes are cruder than crude (but who doesn’t appreciate a well-stage fart joke?) and there is some nudity. Galifianakis, I felt, was the standout of the group as Alan, the exceedingly odd brother-in-law to-be, though Cooper and Helms acquit themselves in fine form as well. Easily the funniest movie I’ve seen in a long, long time. Can’t recommend it enough. Woodchuck sez, “Absolutely check this out.”
