Eye Candy #14 - "Missing in Action 2/Braddock - Missing in Action 3"
Missing in Action 2/Braddock - Missing in Action 3: Like a car wreck, I just can't look away. Here we have the two sequels no one was clamoring for, the prequel and sequel to the original "MIA", with Chuck Norris again as Jim Braddock, current/former US soldier (depending on which film you watch) held captive by the Vietnamese. However, the Vietnamese are once again portrayed as almost completely inept weirdos, which is why I refer to this entire series as "Mr. Norris and the Keystone Cong". It's a wonder he stayed in captivity so long as dumb as they are. Part 2 shows Braddock's time in captivity and his eventual escape. And you'd think, since it was Chuck Norris, that the fight choreography would be better than it is...and you'd be wrong. The fight at the end of "MIA 2" is STAGGERINGLY slow (compared to a contemporary Jet Li or Jackie Chan fight, it's positively anemic). Part 3 finds us back in 'Nam, as Braddock returns to rescue the son he didn't know he had and the wife left behind for dead at the Fall of Saigon. Same amount of Vietnamese mustache-twisting and general silliness here, too. Woodchuck sez, "Part 2 - Complete crapola. Part 3 - not as bad as Part 2...but still pretty awful."
