Eye Candy #15 - "Extreme Ops"
Extreme Ops: I believe the words I'm looking for are ABSO-FRICKING-LOOTELY UNBELIEVABLE CRAP. In a tale ripped from the pages of antiquity, we have the heartwarming tale of a group of extreme athletes facing down a supposedly dead Balkan terrorist, all while filming a commercial somewhere in the Austrian Alps. With a description like that, how can you NOT immediately flush credibility right down the toilet? Directed by Christian Duguay (whose film "Screamers" I really liked), this film is repellently dumb and gives us yet another reason why the word 'extreme' is both over-used and worthless. Nothing redeeming about this picture at all, not even the gratuitous ogling of Bridgette Wilson. And there are some good actors in the film (in particular Rufus Sewell and Heino Ferch, who are both I'm sure trying to forget making this film). This movie must have been the moment where Hollywood woke up about Devon Sawa and realized, "Holy Cow! There's no way he can carry a film!" Any movie that has one of the heroines scream "Whoa!" when the bad guy gets his automatically gets 1 star. No exceptions. That it took not one, but THREE screenwriters to scrape this altogether is depressing as it is pathetic. Woodchuck sez, "This is what the X-Games have wrought. May God have mercy on our souls."
