Eye Candy #239 - "Stay Alive"

Stay Alive:  What is this world coming to when the things that frighten us are evil cellphones, videotapes, and in the case of “Stay Alive”, video games.  What are we going to tell our grandchildren?  “Back in my day, we were terrified of multiplayer online games…”  Let’s face it - we’re pathetic.  I will admit I am the worst person when it comes to spooky video games.  I’ve screamed like a little girl during parts of “Doom” (the game, not the movie).  I don’t like playing “House of the Dead”.  “Silent Hill” weirds me out. A group of video game players get their hands on the new game “Stay Alive”, where they must, while navigating a spooky manor, face down Lady Bathory, a video game character based on the real Lady Erzebet “I Bathe in the Blood of Virgins” Bathory from Hungary (transported here and bastardized for your enjoyment).  Except people start dying in both the real world and game world in identical ways.  So our intrepid group of game players have to figure out what’s going on and stop it before they all buck the kicket.  Some name actors in this one including Frankie Muniz and Adam Goldberg, as well as Jon “The Less Talented” Foster and James Haven, brother of Angelina Jolie and frankly, a prettier woman (who am I kidding?  He looks like an fricking ALIEN.  He almost doesn‘t have EARS!).   But at least this movie fulfills Woodchuck’s #1 Rule of Film - Nothing is scarier than little dead kids.  Woodchuck sez, “I can see the bottom of the barrel from here.”
