Eye Candy #207 - "Date Movie"

Date Movie:  The first abomination to be directed Messrs. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, who are almost single-handedly responsible for any “______ Movie” in the last ten years (though they’ve only been directing them since the-mid 2000’s). Here we have another car wreck mish-mash of different (and better) films including King Kong, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Napoleon Dynamite, Shallow Hal, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Star Wars, Meet the Parents, et al., almost all of which would be a better movie experience than this one. I’ve determined that you only get to be in the “______ Movie(s)” if there is no chance in hell you would get to star in one of the films being spoofed (and I use the term ‘spoof’ very loosely). This one stars Alyson Hannigan (of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “American Pie” fame, who should go punch her agent in the throat) and Adam Campbell, who has appeared in WAY too many of these films already and needs to stop before he suffers irreparable career damage. I saw this one mostly to be a completist, thinking "they can't all be bad, cany they?" Answer? They can. It is slightly better than the average 1 star I give the “_____ Movies(s)” but not by much (think of it as a less smelly pile of dung). Woodchuck sez, “Avoid at all costs.”
