Eye Candy #202 - "Drop Zone"

Drop Zone: A silly, silly movie that tries to be the "Point Break" of the skydiving set and fails completely. Wesley Snipes plays a US marshal who witnesses an in-air jail break by a group of sky-diving crooks led by a crooked ex-DEA agent, played by an unusually subdued Gary Busey (he bites a guy's finger off within his first five minutes, but Gary's got to do more than that to get me out of the bed in the morning for Gary Busey these days). So Snipes goes "undercover" (as apparently the only black sky-diver in AMERICA) to find out who the perps were and to bring them to justice for death of his brother (who was killed during the jailbreak). To that end, he makes friends with a crew of oddball sky-divers to help him get closer to the bad guys. Ridiculous, boring, and trying desperately to be worth more than the sum of its parts. When Michael Jeter is one of your bad guys...you're reaching. I watched it because it was super-cheap at the store. And whaddayaknow! It was. Director John Badham has done SOOOOO much better. Woodchuck sez, "If you're bored, broke, and it's on. Otherwise...no."
