Eye Candy #155 - "Run Fatboy Run"

Run Fatboy Run: A more successful pairing of Simon Pegg and David Schwimmer (their previous effort, “Big Nothing”, was just that). Pegg is Dennis Doyle, all-around loser, who abandoned his pregnant bride-to-be (Thandie Newton) at the altar and is now in a dead-end job as a department store security guard, behind on his rent, and struggling to spend quality time with his son. Enter the new man in his former bride’s life, obnoxious American Whit (Hank Azaria), who is an all-around “good” guy - rich, caring, charitable. So Dennis decides to win back his self-respect, pride, the love of his young son, and possibly even his ex-bride by entertain a marathon that he is woefully unprepared for. So he enlists his landlord and his cousin Gordon (played by Dylan Moran) to help him prepare in 3 weeks time. Some genuinely funny bits here, particularly from Moran who steals every single scene he’s in and utters an extremely memorable line in the history of filmdom: “That was the second most disgusting fluid I've ever had in my eye.” Not my favorite Pegg movie, and though it starts a little slow, it is worth a look.
