Eye Candy #6 - "Zombieland"

Zombieland: I admit this film took multiple viewings to grow on me, but I finally came around. (Poor Man’s Michael Cera) Jesse Eisenberg is “Columbus“, a young man who is the survivor of the zombie apocalypse. He’s a bit OCD and has survived because of an assortment of “rules” that he follows (most of which are actually very practical like Cardio, and Limber Up, and Beware of Bathrooms). A chance encounter with another human survivor, redneck “Tallahassee” who really just wants a Twinkie (played by Woody Harrelson), leads to a cross-country odyssey of zombie killing and mayhem, as they try and make it to their respective destinations (hence, their names). Along the way, they meet two other survivors, young ladies Wichita and Little Rock (played by Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin), who are on their way to Pacific Playland amusement park in California. After much bickering and a detour at Bill Murray’s house (who also happens to be a survivor of the zombie plague), our gang ends up at the amusement park for a zombie showdown of sorts. Irreverent, funny, with not only some good sight gags, but also some very entertaining dialogue (like the character of Little Rock trying to explain Hannah Montana to Tallahassee and Columbus‘ list of rules as they are acted out). Even Eisenberg, who I’ve never really cared for, does a good job here. Woodchuck sez, “Check it out.”
