Eye Candy #94 - "Outpost"
Outpost: A horror movie very much in the same vein as “Dog Soldiers” (and even “Aliens” for that matter). A group of mercenaries escorts a businessmen to an old Nazi base within the Balkans where the Germans ran super-soldier experiments that were stopped…but never really ended. The experiments that Nazis were engaged involved bending physics, creating monstrous soldiers who are neither dead nor alive, but are plenty pissed off. Ray Stevenson (HBO “Rome’s” Titus Pullo) is DC, the leader of the mercenary group that gets way in over its head fighting the non-dead (since they aren’t undead since they‘ve never died…which is part of the mercenaries‘ problems). Sufficiently creepy with some interesting ideas they spent more time than most films of this ilk do elaborating upon. A good way to kill 90 minutes on a rainy afternoon. Woodchuck sez, “May be worth your while.”
