Eye Candy #184 - "Severance"

Severance:  "Severance" was almost...ALMOST a really good movie. Starting off as a black comedy, it takes a big swerve into survival horror territory while completely abandoning the aforementioned humor. A group of employees for the weapons manufacturer Palisades go on a company retreat to the new company lodge in Hungary...except they don't end up at the right lodge. They do however piss off a group of gunmen who use that lodge who then make the team-building exercises decidedly fatal for the company men. I recognized a few faces here (Tim Mcinnery of "Black Adder" fame as the oblivious nincompoop manager who would rather make no decision than any decision). I don't know exactly what the film was trying to say - whether it's that those involved in the arms industry are incredibly removed from the world they supply, that weapons manufacturers are bad, whatever. Fun for a bit, then seems to just go through its paces. Woodchuck sez, "Could have been better."
