Eye Candy #255 - "Urban Justice" (SEAGAL! #3)

Urban Justice: As we make our way through the Steven Seagal library, director Don Fauntleroy appears prominently in it, having directed Mr. Seagal on multiple occasions.  This time around, Seagal is Simon Ballister, whose son, a police officer, is murdered by parties unknown.  Simon moves into the seediest parts of some city in the American southwest, and begins to look for his son’s killer, while finding himself at odds with everyone from latin gangstars, Black gangsters, and corrupt cops.  At the head of the food chain is Armand Tucker (played by Eddie Griffin; the film’s biggest suspension of disbelief is imagining him as a cold-blooded criminal overlord, and frankly, with all the various members of the Screen Actors Guild available, Griffin is the best they could do?).  Nothing exceptional here, and the dialogue is just a tad better than usual (but considering most of his dialogue is hideous, that’s not saying much).  Oh, and the gunfights would make Sam Peckinpah blush.  They must all be using hollow points, the amount of viscera and liquid that accompanies each gunshot would.   I’d give it one-and-a-half stars if I could. Woodchuck sez, “About what I expected.”
