Eye Candy #254 - "Batman and Robin"

Batman and Robin:  This movie was so bad, it helped scuttle and/or stall the careers of many of those involved. Arnold Schwarzenegger? A whole slew of sub-mediocre "thrillers" to date. Alicia Silverstone? Whole lotta nada. Chris O'Donnell? 10 years later, "Grey's Anatomy" has put him back on the radar (granted, that show did the same for Patrick Dempsey). Even Uma was hurting until "Kill Bill" came along. This movie was that bad. I saw it for free in the theaters and still wanted my money back. Akiva Goldsman, who has written some fantastic scripts and even won an Oscar for his work, but apparently when's he off...he's waaaayyy off. He certainly phoned this one in long distance, as it's full of bad, bad, BAD puns, and seems more like the old Batman TV show from the 60's (complete with the "Batusi") than a film made for an intelligent, discerning moviegoing crowd. Gaudy, ugly, and empty. And the industry wonders why the moviegoing audience has a hard time believing in every "summer blockbuster". I give you "Batman and Robin", the worst movie of the summer of 1997, and possibly the worst film of the entire year.
